NEW ENVIRONMENT, NEW DIRECTIONS AT THE GFU’S FACULTY OF ECONOMICS

The biggest renovation of the Faculty of Economics at Gál Ferenc University has recently been completed and the next phase is already being planned.

We talked to Zoltán Árpási, Dean of the University, on the 3 Topics programme about the modernisation of the campus, the opening of the university abroad and student scholarship opportunities.

The next academic year at the faculty of the Ferenc Gál University in Békéscsaba will start in a partially renewed environment. Dean Zoltán Árpási told 3 Topics that the renovation, which was completed in recent days, included energy modernisation, and parts of the old building were also modernised. The dean pointed out that the increased number of students for the academic year 2023/24 was one of the reasons why the university’s management decided to carry out the renovation. This is not the end of the process, the transformation of the Faculty of Economics will be completed in spring next year with further renovations. Zoltán Árpási stressed that the completed solar park is a significant development, as is the complete renovation of the dormitory.

Every opportunity should be seized to make the university visible abroad, said Zoltán Árpási. The Erasmus programme offers students a wide range of opportunities, but the level of activity varies.

The Dean pointed out that they try to encourage young people to join the semester courses by offering a few days abroad. In addition to Erasmus, the recent trip to the US, which introduced GFU at collegiate level, could also bring a new direction. Zoltán Árpási said that negotiations are already underway to announce a joint course with New York University.

July is a decisive month in all Hungarian higher education institutions, including the GFU’s Faculty of Economics. This is when the last changes in the application sequence can be made and when this year’s point thresholds will be revealed. The GFU Faculty of Economics is optimistic about the next weeks.
