More than 2000 athletes from over 200 countries will compete in the World Championships in August. The Gál Ferenc University will also be there with a small team of volunteers, in order to make Hungary’s role as organiser of the world event in Budapest as successful as possible.
The opening festival of the National Athletics Centre was held at the weekend, with several running races and family sports events. While family members sprinted, long jumped or just had fun, volunteers were able to explore the 35,000-seat brand new stadium’s venues, which are only accessible to accredited athletes, sports officials, sports journalists or sports diplomats, continuing the preparations for the World Championships. The volunteers from Gál Ferenc University were coordinated by Dr Szabolcs Halasi.
