Faculty of Economy
The Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Szeged Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Medical and Sports Science Working Committee of the Szeged Academic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences jointly organised the Sports Science Conference on the occasion of the Hungarian Science Day on Wednesday morning at the Faculty of Economics of the Gál Ferenc University.
The Hungarian Academy of Sciences has announced the Hungarian Science Day for this month and the Faculty of Economics of Gál Ferenc University could not be left out of this national programme. In the past, the university organised this conference on economics and finance, but this year they have changed this, as the Faculty of Economics has become “sporty”, said Zoltán Árpási.
– It is important for all such events, and there was some awareness of this, to have a diverse palette, we did not want to and I think it would not have been appropriate to promote one sport or one field. On the one hand, professional lectures enable professional cooperation and networking, and on the other hand, the lectures given here always give rise to further ideas in the audience, which they can either ask questions about or take further in their own research, thus paving the way for scientific cooperation,” said Zoltán Árpási, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Gál Ferenc University.
The speakers included several associate professors, assistant professors, assistant professors and research assistants. The first speaker was Zita Hajdúné Petrovszki, Associate Professor at the University of Szeged, who gave a presentation on a comprehensive analysis of heart rate variability in young male handball players.
– Nowadays, the routine measurement of the readiness of athletes is becoming more and more important, and one of the suitable methods is the monitoring of cardiovascular parameters such as heart rate variability, which can measure the effects of stress, overload, over-exertion and, by monitoring this, it is possible to determine the optimal training load,” she emphasised.
Other topics discussed during the scientific session included the role of perioperative nutrition in rehabilitation following sports surgery, motor development in under-age students and sports psychology support on the path to adult team participation.
